5,333 notesIn December of 2011, it was reported by Digital Music News that the creators of MegaUpload were rolling out plans for a new cloud based music service that had the potential to change the music industry.
Called Megabox, it would have created an alternative to record labels as…
Five facts:
1. ACTA isn’t the “European” SOPA. It’s nearly GLOBAL, and will apply to every country that signs the treaty.
2. ACTA is far more aggressive. ACTA will not simply affect websites and have them blocked out of the internet - its measures go as far as surveillance of anything you share through private channels.
3. ACTA doesn’t have a campaign against it that is as wide-spread and organized as the SOPA one. This is DANGEROUS, as there’s less time between now and the final signing of ACTA.
4. ACTA has effects on healthcare, trade, and even tourism.
5. ACTA has to be stopped.
Let’s start spreading the word and organizing a good, solid response to it.

0 notesfirst of all, if you didn’t read my post concerning the pirate bay’s response to SOPA/PIPA, you really should because it is true. secondly, i would look to add that if movie tickets, cds, dvd/blu ray, etc. weren’t so god damn expensive in the first place people would definitely buy them. louis c.k. PROVED this fact by selling his live at the beacon theatre for 5 bucks for streaming or downloading - hell, he even put out a version that you could burn to dvd and made a fucking huge profit! not to mention the fact that half the shit that hollywood puts out… exhibit a. movies - they are all remakes and just generally suck. not even worth your money, really. if movies were fucking meaningful and actually evoked any kind of feeling other than disgust from me then maybe i might consider paying twenty dollars for myself and my significant other to watch it. however, that is not the case so why should i pay to see it in theatres and then pay twenty more dollars to own it? fuck that. exhibit b. music - alright, i am as big a music lover as the next person, but anything that is on the radio now-a-days in total bullshit. music does not have the same emotion that it used to! don’t get me wrong, there are bands out there that i absolutely love, but are they really profiting from record sales? fuck no. the music industry (as well as the rest of hollywood) is fucking corrupt and greedy (just like our politicians) and musicians don’t even make profit off of something they were TOLD to make. because musicians have to make music the amurika will listen to, which consists of emotionless, mindless bullshit anyway. maybe if the albums they put out were actually what they wanted to create then i would pay for it. but charging me sixteen dollars for a cd that is passionless and trendy? fucking forget it. i want no part in that shit. if you really want to stop piracy, let’s fucking pass a law to get rid of hollywood and it’s mindless, emotionless, corporate greedy bullshit and let the artists produce and create what they feel in their fucking hearts and souls and let them put their own fucking pricetag on it that they themselves will profit from. let them decide what type of medium to place it on for the public to buy, and do away with those fucking elitist greedy bastards in hollywood. actually, let’s take a trip to california and set that bitch on fire… anyone with me?
